Jim Thorpe Invitational - April 7th
Matt Smarr is from Tamaqua. He and Aaron were close competitors all season.
|
It was snowing during this event. That makes the track and the poles a little slick!

|
This away meet was held at Blue Mountain High School. Aaron cleared 13 feet 6 inches to take First place.

The Allentown Invitational was pretty cold. Aaron cleared 13'6" and made 3 attempts at 13'9" but couldn't quite get there. Bryan and Shelly came to watch. Thanks so much for supporting Aaron as he played.

|
Matt and Aaron both made 13'6" and Matt graciously agreed to move the bar up to 14'1" so that Aaron could make an attempt at breaking the Lehighton High school record. He came oh so close!

States at Shippensburg - May 27th
Linda, Erik, Ian, and I stayed with Dave, Carrie, and family the night before competition. Their entire family except for Elli and Michael came to cheer for Aaron as he competed at the state, PIAA track meet. Bryan Primrose also came out for the day. Aaron did extremely well. The highest jumps were 15 feet and only 2 athletes made that height. A few jumped 14 feet which is the 3rd place height. Aaron received 5th place after the tie breakers. 14 feet is a personal record and tied with the Lehighton High school record. This record was made by Dennis Semmel in 1982.
