Rapid City, South Dakota, July 30 to August 6th, 2011
Traveling to South Dakota and setting up Camp.
The boys did not have much experience flying in an airplane before. They had a chance to see the cockpit and interact with the pilot. It was fun spending a little time laying over in the O'hare airport. We had some lunch and explored the airport.

Pastor Larry showed us how to set up authentic teepees. We even used authentic American Indian duct tape. After sleeping in the teepee for a few nights, we discovered that we had set ours on an anthill. The Bailey's, Bowman's, and Ziegenfus' stayed in teepees for the week. Everyone else travelled to a local hotel and some stayed in the church building.

Some new friends.
We of course got to meet and work along side many people from our church. It was nice to also meet people from HeSape New Life and others.
Installing Drywall
The main construction project for the week was installing drywall in a building that they will use for storage and Sunday school classes. We put in insulation and hung the drywall. Brian installed the drop down attic access ladder and the garage door. We did not do any taping and mudding.
Working around the Church
There were many odd jobs to be done around the church. As we arrived, Matt Z. was finishing up mowing. There were weeds to pull around the fences, Picnic tables to be repaired and painted. Gene did a bunch of plumbing and electrical work.
VBS and The Block Party
Police shooting
A tour of Crazy Horse Monument and Mount Rushmore
An excursion to attend a Powwow on the Lokota Reservation
Food for the Week
Part of the team was committed to providing sustenance for the week. A few of the ladies slept at the church so they could get breakfast going pretty early in the morning.
