Dave, Bucky, and I started at the Marble Mountain access road at the bottom of Whiteface memorial highway. Bucky parted ways when Dave and I started out on the trail to Esther mountain. He met us at the top. This was a great trail with some long stretches of vertical. The last mile was the most challenging for the barefeet.

Dave and I got an early start heading up to Algonquin. Bucky decided to spend some time photographing Mt. Jo. On the way up, I found the steep granite to be much more sticky than rock found at home. After summiting Algonquin, we headed on to Iroquois. The many Cairns were on interest to me. Dave says that they are use to guide the winter hikers when the paint marks are covered by snow. The clouds were fun to watch as we would go in and out of fog. As we geared up to return to Algonquin, a rain storm was clearly heading our way. We hiked in the rain on and off for the rest of the day. As we descended from the Algonquin summit, the trail had become a very steep stream. Amazing that the granite is still grippy even when it is wet. We also took a short hike up to Wright. This allowed us to summit three peaks in one hike.
