Pennsylvania Sojourn - May 6 - 8, 2016
Meyersdale, Pa to Homestead, Pa
Great Allegheny Passage - Sheepskin Trail
Erik and I volunteered for the Pennsylvania Sojourn. This year it was held in the spring and was a shorter trip. We covered about 120 miles in three days. It was a nice ride. We had great weather and the whole ride was down hill from Meyersdale to Homestead.
The group met at Homestead on Friday. It was interesting to learn that this had been an active steel production site until 1986. Here we loaded on busses for the 2 hour ride to Meyersdale.

Soon after leaving Adalaide, we saw something odd along the trail and had to double back to take a closer look. It appears that bees were making a hive in a tree and the branch fell. Now they are busy building the hive on the ground. I assume that they will give up eventually and find a new branch. It was fascinating to see how focused they were on the job. We didn't feel the need to interrupt them.
